First Team Match Report - Home Versus Frys B

The team gathered at the Jubilee for this weeks league game against Frys B after their cup exit last week with the manager wanting to know if we had the Bounce Back Ability Factor (its a bit like the X Factor but without the singing) meaning could we get back to our winning ways to ensure we did not suffer back to back defeats.

The club were all wearing red armbands in support of the Red Day for the National Crohns Disease Charity. The club have managed to raise over £110 in aid of this charity, so well done to all the lads. Hopefully that was the only charity we would be giving out on this day.

The kit was done by Trev this week except for the number 3 kit which I cleaned, well did you know he has no outdoor drying area bless him, so I thought I would help out and his girlfriend has a broken leg ..... what else can go wrong for him ?

Anyway the warm up was good, the banter was good, the weather was good, the ref turned up ...... good. The match kicked off and straight away the team looked good, the passing was good, the movement was good, James P in his pink top ..... looking good !!!

After the manager had explained his concern over the number of chances we miss, the team continued to prove just how right he was by missing a hat full of chances plus some. Then after 23 mins young Ash H (of Star Wars fame now) ghosted in from the dark side (far post to me and you) and headed in from a Matt B cross to finally take one of our many chances. Then after 30 mins, a long throw from the Wizard (of Oz) was headed in on the middle post (private joke) by Trev H. Then just before the whistle Ash L with a rocket pass into the box allowing Chilly to guide the ball into the net. Half-time 3-0.

The half-time talk was gentle and soft, well some of the lads are a bit sensitive so I need to cuddle them now and again. Although the lack of finishing did crop up a few times. Then out we went to rumble again.

The second half was a lot of huffing and puffing although we did get the ball in the net a couple of times but they were both disallowed for off-side. The Wizard on the right wing had several good chances and went close with a cross come shot or was it shot come cross ? Only he knows but the magic disappeared just at the wrong time. Frys hit the post with a long range shot which some players are saying James P tried to let in to spoil our clean sheet record. Thats rubbish, he was slightly late going for the ball because he noticed he had a little bit of mud on his nice pink top and was sweeping it off before diving.

Anyway the subs were rolled on with 30 mins to go and more chances came and went leaving the final score 3-0. Well did I learn anything from todays match ...... of course I did.

James P is actually starting to like the colour pink, he also now listens to Village People a lot. I also hate dog walkers, that is now twice in 2 weeks I have had to go on the pitch and clear off dog poo (I do not get paid enough for this job). We also now have a strong contender for miss of the season (no names mentioned). This match was just after bonfire night and we put on a good display, scored a couple of crackers, Ash L went down the wing like a rocket, we had a few sparklers but unfortunately we fired quite a few duds.

MoM this week was Matt B because he is my coaching partner .... whoops I mean because of his all round display, solid tackling and support play (see you on Wednesday Matt). Was the burger nice ?

See you all at training on Tuesday. If not then let me know.
