First Team Match Report - Away Vs Impact Squad
One of the big games of the season with Impact in 2nd position in the League and BSTFC 3rd. Both teams with a 100% winning record so something had to give today. Conditions were a little boggy with the wind blowing across the pitch. The warm up went well and the team was sent out onto the pitch to do their manager proud.
The early exchanges were fast and furious with both teams showing they would attack at every opportunity. Then with just 6 mins gone, a long throw into the BSTFC box was not defended, the ball dropped in the area, it was not cleared and a shot was lashed into the net. Impact were up 1-0 already. However BSTFC battled on and chances fell to Ash L , first with a header where he did not connect properly and then another when he put his volley wide. Chilly nearly connected to a shot come cross. Forsh had a chance and Ash H with his shooting was trying to hit the players on the other pitch on the far side. Then with 40 mins played another blow to BSTFC when yet another centre half Andy G got injured and had to come off. Now if you include me thats 4 centre halves injured now !!! We re-organised with Adam S (Mr Vegas) coming on and the team stayed strong to half time.
The manager put some thoughts to the team during his chat, we needed to tweak a few things and his language had a few swear words in ........thats not really called for is it ? He seems such a nice man !!!! Although worse was still to come from him.
The 2nd half started and after just 6 mins Forsh made his way down the right, cut into the box and got his cross in and Chilly guided the ball into the net (he does like to guide things .... was he in the guides at a young age). It was all level. The game went from end to end with chances falling to both teams, the ref had to be fit to keep up with this pace (I thought the ref was a very nice man). Then after 26 mins disaster struck. A free kick was launched high to the far post where it found the 7ft giant who headed the ball down into the 6 yard box where 2 unmarked Impact players were there ready to sweep the ball in. We were behind again. BSTFC stormed on and went in search of a equaliser. Some nice play in midfield, releashed Adam S to cross and Liam D flicked the ball with his head which unbelievably was tipped over by the keeper. It broke my heart. Then after 32 mins with Oz and Luke T battling for the ball, they got it wide to Ash L who cut in, did his little skip and dance before unleashing a screamer into the net. It was all level again at 2-2.
The team battled on in search of a winner. Trev, Matt and Ash H stayed strong in midfield, James P. Kev G, Luke T and Oz stayed strong in defence. Liam D was sent through on goal with just minutes left but his shot was off target and the follow up was blocked. Both teams had chances to win it but a draw was a fair result. It would have been cruel on either team to have lost this one.
Did I learn anything today, of course I did.
Firstly it was great to see the team come twice from behind in a game (No Luke not like that), this really showed determination and commitment. I was really proud of the lads today. We are a young team who are still getting better. I also do get passionate in games and that certainly came through today. Did anyone know I could shout so loud ...... but please never ever say the word cheat to me ....... otherwise that is what happens !!!!!
Also I was pleased with my running today. How many times did I go down that bank to retrieve the ball and just how fast was I .......... may be with the shortage of centre halves there may be a space for me ??????
Just a quick update on the injury front ....... Trev's girlfriend Emma still needs to rest her broken toe ? Trev is worried this is taking a long time even after all the rest. What he does not know is that when he leaves the house Emma is on the Wii Sports for hours !!! Good news is that she has top score in boxing, long jump and disco dancing !!! Emma shut the curtains before you go on it in future !!!!!
Latest news .... Ash H is considering joining Facebook in the near future because he is missing out on the gossip. So we better stop slagging him off on there now !!!!!
MoM was awarded to all the team today. There is no way the management team could pick out just one player from that game.
