GFA Minor Cup Final vs. Brislington Cricketers (at GFA Oaklands Park) - Tue 3rd April 2007

BRADLEY STOKE ARE STUMPED BY CRICKETERS

Brislington Cricketers took the first step towards completing a league and cup double with victory in the Gloucestershire FA Minor Cup final.

The Cricketers had to battle hard in the all-District League clash and Bradley Stoke deservedly went in at half-time holding a 1-0 lead.

Bradley Stoke had already come close through two Ashley Lloyd efforts when they went ahead in the 16th minute. Leading scorer Andy Forshaw laid the ball off for James Collis-Pritchard, who gave goalkeeper Rob Gould no chance with a well-struck 25-yard drive.

Jack O'Brien and Matthew Grimes then both went close for Brislington.

It was a similar story after the break as Grimes was denied twice before Jack Elston's corner cannoned into the net off Bradley Stoke defender Andy Gray.

Substitute William Davies hit the post and it came as no surprise when Brislington took a 64th-minute lead through Mark Chaffey.

Bradley Stoke came back In the closing stages and Forshaw, Liam Dixon and Paul Skipp all went close to taking the game into extra-time.
