| Away
vs. Crown Parkway - Sat 14th October 2006 Fun
for all (or not) away at Dunridge Park in Hanham to play on
the Infamous half-pike. The weather was dull and so was the
start of the game. Bradley Stoke slow off the mark got themselves
into almost immediate trouble as they invited Crown Parkway
to come at them again and again. Crown's first goal came from
a short pass just outside the box into Crown's forward who turned
into the box as Stoke idly watched the resulting half hit shot
bounce into the corner of the net. Not long after, a cross from
Crown's right wing sailed across to Bradley Stoke's far post
as an unmarked player was free to scuff the ball into the net
from 2 yards out.
Then stoke
awoke with 60 minutes still to play. Crown were still dominate
in the remainder of the first half but stoke were making some
good tackles and started to pass out instead of hoofing the
ball anywhere.
With the
start of the second half, Stoke change formation slightly to
442 rather than 451 which seemed to give them more width and
unclog the middle of the field. The tide began to turn with
some sound defending from Ryan Palmer, James Palmer and Luke
Taylor and Stoke started to string a few attacks together. This
eventually culminated in a few shots and corners that where
blocked or turned away. James Eager came closest with a long
range shot just not dropping as it sailed just over the bar.
Crown tired and Stoke became more and more dangerous but time
ran out before they could score a consolation goal. With an
earlier awakening Stoke could have battled out a good point
from the game but not good enough for 3.
